Mani Rao was born in 1965, and has lived in India, New Zealand and Hong Kong. She has written six books of poetry - Wingspan (1987), Catapult Season (1992), Living Shadows (1997), The Last Beach (1999), Salt (2000) and Echolocation (2003). She is one of the organisers of the Outloud (poetry readings).
Here is a poet who works by daring - daring herself and the reader - to let go. She works in the dark with wit and knife and punch and paper scissors. It's like watching lightning fork.
